Fifty abseilers took part in the KM Charity Team’s first challenge event to take place from the top of Canterbury’s new Premier Inn.
£5,000 was raised for 38 good causes with Suki Calder of Sittingbourne winning VIP panto tickets for the Marlowe Theatre's production of Aladdin for being the highest individual fundraiser, having brought in £1,075 for the Canterbury-based Kent MS Therapy Centre.
The youngest participant was Holly McDonald, 10, who raised £269.50 for Canterbury Food Bank while the oldest abseiler was 71-year-old Lady Mayoress of Canterbury, Ann Taylor.
David Bartlett raised £80 for Thanet’s Zone Youth Club and took part dressed as a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle.
A group of 10 staff from Canterbury’s Premier Inn, and sister hotels in east Kent, took part in the abseil to support Great Ormond Street Hospital.
The event was organised by the KM's charity department and supported by Miles and Barr estate agent, Pizza Hut, Evolution Productions and Over the Edge Adventures.
