Dover based ferry firm DFDS Seaways is supporting the KM Kent Cooks competition for the fourth year in a row.
The county’s official school cooking contest, organised by the KM’s charity department, helps children to learn about healthy eating and puts their culinary skills to the test.
Matthew McPhail, food and beverage manager at DFDS Seaways, said: “We are delighted to be sponsoring the Kent Cooks competition again this year. We pride ourselves on offering quality food on our cross Channel ferries and are looking forward to judging this year’s recipes from school children across Kent.”
He added: “Last year’s standards were pretty high and the winning dish this year will be served in the Road Kings restaurant onboard the ferries for our commercial drivers to enjoy.”
Kent Cooks is open to entries from five to 18 year olds and the deadline is November 4. Categories include ‘families’ for parent and child entrants, ‘primary school’ and ‘secondary school’. To enter, the children need to prepare a healthy dish and each recipe will be added to the www.kentcooks.co.uk website.
There will be a Masterchef-style final on November 27 at East Kent College where a panel of food industry experts will decide which youngsters are the cream of the crop.
Kent Cooks is sponsored by DFDS Seaways, Mini Babybel, Three R’s Teacher Recruitment, Southern Water, Kent Cookery School, Golding Homes, Orbit and Brakes.
