A Canterbury organisation is supporting Kent's official school cookery contest in the hope of finding the ‘top chefs of tomorrow’.
Licensing Consultancy Services is championing the KM Kent Cooks competition which aims to foster a love of cooking amongst pupils across Kent aged five to 18 years.
Jim Ratchford from Licensing Consultancy Services said: “I am really looking forward to this competition. I spend a lot of my time in my business visiting and eating in cafes, pubs and restaurants, so it’s exciting to see young people - perhaps the top chefs of tomorrow - getting involved and producing original and tasty meals.
“I wish all the contestants well and am looking forward to feasting my eyes on their creations and having my taste buds tickled!”
Entry requirements are a photograph of the pupil’s signature dish together with recipe details which must be submitted to the www.kentcooks.co.uk website by November 4. Entrants are encouraged to cook a healthy recipe to a set budget and use locally grown ingredients.
The best ones will be invited to an exciting live finale on November 27 at East Kent College where they will compete for the KM Kent Cooks crown and a share of the £500 prize money.
The winning primary school pupil will receive £50, £100 will be awarded to the family winner, the secondary student winner will receive £150 and the Kent Cooks overall champion will receive £200.
Kent Cooks is also sponsored by Countrystyle, Mini Babybel, Three R’s Teacher Recruitment, DFDS Seaways, Southern Water, Kent Cookery School, Golding Homes, Orbit, Brakes, Carefree Communications and VooServers.
