Participants will discover a ‘hidden gem’ at the KM Charity Walk on Sunday, June 24 – and there is still time for families and friends to book.
The annual stroll offers a circular route setting off from the Grade II listed Georgian mansion Mote House, located at Mote Park in Maidstone, and taking in views of Leeds Castle.
Walkers can complete the main 10-mile route for fun or to gather sponsorship for any charity of their choice. For those preferring a shorter distance, there is a family-friendly five-mile option.
Alex Maitland, general manager of Mote House, is keen to welcome participants at the 23rd annual event.
“The KM Charity Walk is great for people of all different backgrounds,” he said. “You don’t have to be super-fit to get involved, and it’s the chance to have fun while raising money for great causes.
“But it’s really about the whole day – a day in Mote Park and the countryside and then enjoying the summer fayre and barbeque at the finish line. Participants will be able to use our bar and restaurant and there will also be an ice cream stall and live music.”
Any individual raising £200 or more for their chosen cause will have their name put into a prize draw to win a pair of Eurostar tickets.
Dogs on leads are welcome and children go free when booking online in advance. The Kent Wildlife Trust will provide fun activities for youngsters to complete as they go along the route.
On completion of the walk, participants will collect goody bags and medals and enjoy a summer fayre at Mote House. Entertainment will be provided by Kent band Acoustic Tones and refreshment stalls will include Homemade With Love Cakes and Priscilla the Pimms Pod.
Mr Maitland said: “It’s great to be able to welcome everybody to Mote House - it’s a real hidden gem to discover. Many people walk past the building and don’t necessarily know what it is, or that our facilities are open to the public.
“We are happy to support the KM Charity Walk – it helps to keep Mote House a vibrant and interesting place - and our residents very much look forward to it every year.”
The KM Charity Walk is supported by Berry Gardens, Glosrose Engineering, Jarmans solicitors, Simply Ice Cream, Maidstone Ramblers, and the Woodstove Trading Company.
