Businesses and charities can learn how to create the perfect press release at a training day organised by the KM Charity Team in the autumn.
The practical half-day course in the creation and use of this essential tool will take place at the charity’s Whitstable office on November 27, and will be delivered by KM Charity Team chief executive and former journalist Simon Dolby.
It is perfect for those with little or no experience of writing press releases, but will also have plenty to offer for the more experienced. The session will cover campaign objectives; when to contact the media; who to contact; how to contact them; the basic structure and content of press releases; writing skills; and advanced tips.
Mr Dolby said: “Contacting the media to try to generate interest in your business or charity can be intimidating for those with less experience.
“And when you go about things the wrong way, you risk starting off by making a bad impression and squandering opportunities.
“Done correctly, however, press releases can be a really valuable and cost-effective means of generating coverage of and support for your organisation.”
The training will take place between 9.30am and 12.30pm at 10 Estuary View, Whitstable, and will cost £60. To take advantage of a special £15 reduction, use the discount code KMNEWS18. Tea, coffee and a sandwich lunch are included in the price.
