Kent-based broadcaster Gloria Hunniford was a special guest at the charity Christmas concert organised by Margate Citadel Salvation Army at the Winter Gardens.
She spoke about the charity she founded in memory of her daughter Caron Keating and £1,400 was raised at the concert for the cause. Caron lost her long and tenacious battle against breast cancer in 2004, aged 41.
While appealing on behalf of the Caron Keating Foundation, Ms Hunniford recalled some of the occasions she attended the Salvation Army in Ireland as a child as well as other encounters with the army throughout her television and radio career.
Christmas Unwrapped was a theme for the 47th year of the annual event.
The audience was taken on a seasonal journey to discover the true meaning of Christmas. Ann Howarth and Marushka Karikova set a scene in which a little girl learned about Christmas for a school project.
Narrators Jessica Knova and Julie Cleary shared the biblical version of the first Christmas story.
The junior and senior bands, singing company and Songsters took part and the event had a lively and invigorating finale with the timbrel and dance item Gaelforce.
