A young Islander has had his long hair cut off in the name of charity.
Hadley Chamberlain, 12, of Salmon Crescent, Minster, decided to raise money for the Paul Trigwell Memorial Fund and had his hair snipped at St George’s Middle School, where he is a pupil.
Head teacher David Dyson took great delight in taking the first cut of Hadley’s hair and then, watched by class mates, hairdresser Claire Walker finished off the cut.
Hadley managed to raise more than £200 for the fund, which was established in September 2006 in memory of the head teacher of St George’s – Paul Trigwell.
The fund aims to raise money for under privileged children who live and go to the schools on the Island.
Hadley’s mum, Jacqui Rowswell, said: “When Hadley was about to have his hair cut, he said 'I’m doing this for Mr Trigwell’ which was really nice.
“He hates having his hair cut so I’m really proud of him.”
