Fans of classic collectables will have plenty to get steamed up about at the KM Charity Team Big Quiz.
Toy manufacturer Hornby has donated a cargo of goodies for the wine and wisdom style event.
It is the sixth year in a row the maker of Thomas the Tank Engine sets, Scalextric and model trains and planes has supported the event
The quiz, which takes place on Friday, November 9 at Maidstone Leisure Centre in Mote Park, will raise money for the Kent Messenger’s charity of the year – the Heart of Kent Hospice – as well as literacy and road safety projects in schools.
KM Charity Team chief executive Simon Dolby said: “I can’t overstate just how grateful I am to Hornby for giving away these wonderful prizes.
“But I’d also like to express my appreciation for those people or organisations who sign up for the quiz.
“By doing, so they’re not just going to have a great night of drama and laughter; they could also go home knowing that they’ve helped to fund invaluable services that make a real difference to individuals’ lives.”
A prize draw will see one of the charities entering at least one quiz team taking a share of the proceeds – which could be up to £1,000.
And there will be prizes for the top team from the NHS and caring organisations, the top local government or schools team, and the top team from any organisation that enters three teams or more.
Brewer Shepherd Neame is supplying all the drinks for the charity bar, which will be run by staff from Barclays bank. The latter will also match the funds raised by the bar.
The top prize for the winning team at the quiz is £150 worth of DFDS Seaways vouchers for each member, and the best four teams will go through to the county final.
The entry price for an eight-person team is £65 per team, but there is a £10 discount when you book using the discount code KMNEWS18, reducing the cost to less than £7 per person.
In addition to Barclays, Shepherd Neame and DFDS Seaways, the quiz is supported by accountancy practice Wilkins Kennedy, Hornby and Office Angels.
