Five hundred participants from across the county were tickled pink at the KM Colour Run which raised £23,000 for more than 60 charities.
Families and friends ran, jogged or walked the 5K course while being showered all colours of the rainbow. Colour Bandits including staff from Countrystyle Recycling and headline partner Specsavers manned stations along the route where they sprayed participants with vivid colours of powder paint.
First across the finish line was Oliver Richards, 15, who ran for St Mary’s Catholic Primary School, Whitstable. Fifty participants from the school, including head teacher Chris Wright, signed up to the event to raise funds for an all-purpose sports field.
The highest individual fundraiser was seven year old Ewan Freeman, also from St Mary’s, with a staggering £1,247 in sponsorship for Headway East Kent in tribute to his grandmother Jill who is currently in hospital.
Second to cross the finish line was Michael Jarvis from Dartford with his father Steve taking third place.
All participants received souvenir KM Colour Run t-shirts and sunglasses to wear during the event and limited edition medals were handed out at the finish line.
Causes benefiting from the KM Colour Run which was staged at Betteshanger Country Park near Deal included Pie Factory Music, Milly Moo Right Now Foundation, Oasis, Catching Lives, Headway, Marula Kids Kenya, Action for Children, Holding On Letting Go, ARRCC, and schools including Sturry CE Primary, Worth Primary, Eastry Primary School PTA, and Hersden Under 5s Preschool.
Organiser Dominic Comins from the KM Charity Team said: “We are thrilled that over 500 people of all ages enjoyed themselves in the sunshine for their favourite good causes. I’d like to thank Specsavers, IMP, Countrystyle and Betteshanger Country Park for all their help in making the event such a resounding success.”
