A church’s work for a child health project in Africa will be boosted by takings from a One World Week event.
A fashion show using fair trade clothes, jewellery and accessories will be held at St Peter’s Methodist Church, Canterbury, at 6.30pm on Saturday.
Entrance, which includes refreshments, costs £2.50 on the door. Children under 16 go free.
The church is committed to an ambitious three year project, working through the Methodist Relief and Development Fund, to support a maternal and child health programme in Mali, and the admission charges will be donated to the project.
One World Week is celebrated nationally each year with community action to strive for justice, equality and peace.
The second big event is an annual service to mark United Nations Day in Canterbury Cathedral on Sunday.
The service, being held by the United Nations Association’s Canterbury branch, starts at 6.30pm.
The One World theme continues at St Peter’s Methodist Church when the annual Whole World Fair is held.
The fair is open from 6pm to 9pm on Friday, October 31, and from 10am until 4pm on Saturday, November 1.
Many charities, from local to global, will be selling gifts, cards and cakes to raise funds for their work.
