Educational professionals can learn about the KM Charity Team’s innovative approach to improving child literacy at a free conference this autumn.

KM Charity Team chief executive Simon Dolby will deliver a presentation about reading reward scheme Buster’s Book Club at The Education People Show.

The free conference, which is described as the county’s leading education show, takes place at the Kent Event Centre at the Kent Showground in Detling on November 7.

Mr Dolby will present a workshop with the title ‘Creating Reading Rewards and Literacy Stars’.

He said: “I’m extremely excited to be giving a workshop at what is the county’s most important education show, and I look forward to connecting there with teachers from across Kent.

“This event offers educators the opportunity to learn about Buster’s Book Club’s impressive track record in engaging children with reading and the scheme’s proven history of transforming literacy standards.

“It’s a free event, and I hope as many teachers as possible come along and find out more about the KM Charity Team’s work.”

Buster’s Book Club encourages children to read extra at home, with classes competing each week to be awarded the Reading Class of the Week Trophy. A monthly inter-school reading challenge awards winning classes tickets to leisure attractions or visits by storytellers.

Other speakers at the conference include two-time winter Olympic gold medallist Lizzy Yarnold.

Ms Yarnold was born in Sevenoaks and went to Maidstone Grammar School for Girls before winning gold medals in the skeleton in the 2014 and 2018 winter Olympics.
