The Maidstone heat of the KM Big Quiz takes place on Friday, November 9, so would-be contestants have just days left in which to book tables.

The quiz will raise money for the Heart of Kent Hospice – the Kent Messenger newspaper’s charity of the year – as well as literacy and road-safety services for schools.

In addition, there are host of fantastic prizes, with each member of the winning team taking home DFDS Seaways vouchers worth £150.

There will be a raffle offering Hornby collectables as prizes, and one person selected at random will have the chance to win spa tickets in the timed ‘Win in 10’ round.

Brewer Shepherd Neame is supplying all the drinks for the charity bar, which will be run by staff from Barclays bank, with the bank also matching the funds raised by the bar.

And contestants will receive substantial nibbles and a bottle of wine on the table.

Event organiser Dominic Comins of the KM Charity Team said: “I guarantee that the KM Big Quiz will deliver a great night out.

“It gives you the chance to pit your wits against some of the best quizzers in the county, but there’s always a relaxed, no-stress vibe on the night.

“Shepherd Neame’s Spitfire bar will help keep you refreshed when the pressure is on, and the money raised will go to some really worthy good causes.

“But there’s only days left in which to reserve tables, so book now if you want to take part.”

In addition to Barclays, Shepherd Neame, Hornby and DFDS Seaways, the quiz is supported by accountancy practice Wilkins Kennedy and Office Angels.

The event is for teams of up to eight people. It takes place at Maidstone Leisure Centre in Mote Park, with doors opening at 6.20pm for a 7pm start. The fun is estimated to finish at 10.00pm.

The entry price is £65 per team, but there is a £10 discount when you book using the discount code KMNEWS18.

The top four teams will go through to the county final, which takes place at the Ashford International Hotel on January 11.
