The restaurant at a leading Kentish tourist attraction has signed up to support a children’s creative art competition.
The Leafi restaurant at Margate’s Turner Contemporary Gallery has agreed to assist the Perfect Packed Lunch Awards, which is due to be staged on Friday, June 10.
Ralph Crofton, Events Catering Manager at Leafi, said: “We are delighted to be involved with the awards. The Turner is a home for creativity which makes it a truly fitting venue for this initiative. Our restaurant supplies guests with a wide assortment of delicious meals and beverages, and being true to our location, we locally source ingredients wherever possible.”
Organised by the KM Charity Team, the competition requires primary school pupils to design a genuine or fantasy lunch in line with one of several categories. The awards were implemented to stimulate children’s imaginations by engaging their artistic and creative writing skills .
All submissions have now been received and finalists will be invited to the gallery where their artwork will be proudly displayed. All entries will also be converted into online recipe cards and showcased on the official Perfect Packed Lunch website.
Lisa Craig, events manager at the KM Charity Team which organises the awards, said: “We have received so many fantastic entries for this year’s awards so selecting winners will be an extremely difficult task for our judges. We are very excited to see so much brilliant artwork presented at the Turner Contemporary, and would like to thank the Leafi restaurant for their support.”
The awards are supported by key partners Three R’s Teacher Recruitment, Golding Vision (Part of Golding Homes), Turner Contemporary Gallery and Mini Babybel.
