Good literacy skills are essential for a career in law according to KM Charity Team key partner Hallett and Co.

The solicitors firm have announced their support for the Kent Literacy Awards 2016, which are now open for nominations from the public.

Mark Dewey, Senior Partner at Hallett and Co, said: “Literacy is the lifeblood of our work. Every lawyer must be able to read, write, listen and comprehend; skills essential to our profession."

He added: “We are very proud to help younger people hone in on these skills, and develop them further for greater successes in adult life.”

The awards are organised by the charity and are designed to showcase initiatives that make a real difference to the success of the schools.

Nominations are accepted from parents, pupils, teachers, support staff and management across primary and secondary schools in Kent, Medway and Bexley.

Simon Dolby, chief executive of the charity, said: “Literacy is at the very heart of our work, and something we strive to celebrate and congratulate regularly. I cannot think of a better event for this than the Kent Literacy Awards. We hope many people take the time to submit a nomination.”

The awards ceremony takes place at Sittingbourne’s Hempstead House in June, with ambassadors taking a seat on the judging panel.
