Six Kent education providers have received awards for their trailblazing approach to a popular literacy scheme.
The schools were chosen by the KM Charity Team as the first winners of the Busters.
The Busters are designed to recognise educators that provide a possible template for other schools taking part in KM Charity Team reading rewards scheme Buster’s Book Club.
The winning schools were singled out because of their innovative and imaginative approach to implementing the club.
The awards were handed out at a ceremony held in partnership with Golding Homes at Hempstead House in Bapchild on Friday (November 8).
The Busters winners were:
• Bridge and Patrixbourne Primary School
• Priory Fields School, Dover
• Tiger Primary School, Maidstone
• VSK Fostering, Maidstone
• St Peter’s Infant School, Rochester
• Luddenham School, Faversham
Buster’s Book Club encourages children to read more at home on Wednesday evenings.
Participating schools’ classes compete internally for weekly trophies, and winners of monthly inter-school challenges are rewarded with tickets to leisure attractions or visits by celebrity storytellers.
The club is supported by The Education People, Golding Vision, Medway Council, Specsavers, Leeds Castle, Diggerland, Hornby, Wildwood, Rotary, Acorns Read and Grow, Three R’s Teacher Recruitment, Buckland Media and Kent County Council.
