Pupils from four primary schools have celebrated being crowned kingpins in a district wide green travel contest.
Seventeen schools took part in a special challenge day organised by the KM Charity Team which runs the KM Walk to School schemes Walk on Wednesday (WOW) and Active Bug.
Pupils were encouraged to walk, cycle or scooter to school on the competition date of Wednesday, June 24 in a bid to win AMF Bowling vouchers. The leisure attraction donated a total of 120 vouchers to allocate to the four classes top or most improved for green travel.
Pupil representatives from the winning schools attended a celebration photo call at AMF Bowling where they were congratulated by the facility’s assistant manager Tracy Wratten and mascot Bumper.
The fantastic four classes, who received 30 vouchers each, were Class 6CS of Beaver Green Community Primary School; Swallows Class from East Stour Primary School; Otters Class of John Mayne CEP School; and Class 5 from Victoria Road Primary School.
Simon Dolby of the KM Charity Team said: “I’m delighted to be able to reward pupils’ dedication with a fantastic prize thanks to AMF Bowling. These winning schools really are helping children to establish healthy habits that will last a lifetime.”
He added: “We’re now in the key time of year for schools to join or renew for the walk to school campaign, so don’t delay in contacting us to have green travel services in place for September.”
