A tense tie-breaker settled top honours at the KM Big Charity Quiz at Maidstone Leisure Centre.
Both Moomins and Medway Mail ended tied on 58 points resulting in a team member from both quiz teams joining question master Simon Dolby on stage to answer a sudden death question. Medway Mail came out on top earning the quiz trophy but both will join the best teams from around the county for the grand final at the end of the year.
Thirty four teams booked to take part in the record-breaking event, which raised more than £8k for charity. Beneficiaries were the Heart of Kent Hospice, Maidstone Mind and the children’s road safety service at the KM Charity Team.
Two organisations played a leading role in the financial success of the event. Shepherd Neame donated all the beverages for the night and volunteers from Barclays bank, Maidstone manned the charity bar and doubled proceeds raised at the event.
Simon Dolby said: “All the beneficiaries are so grateful to Sheps, Barclays, staff from Qube recruitment and all the organisations that helped make the event such a success.”
Organisations supporting the night included DSH accountancy, Qube Recruitment, MHA MacIntyre Hudson accountants, KM Security Solutions, Maidstone Leisure Centre, Shepherd Neame, Barclays bank and P&O Ferries.
