Calling all musicians, ventriloquists, comedians and circus acts - the Mayor of Medway needs you.

The Mayor’s charity showcase has become a tradition in the Medway Towns. It is a chance for local talent to get themselves noticed while raising cash for local causes.

The event this year takes place at The Corn Exchange, Northgate, Rochester on Friday, May 2, from 7.30pm.

A number of well-known names have already signed up to take part but more performers are needed.

On stage will be one of Medway’s brightest young stars, Matthew Crane. The 15-year-old is the UK’s youngest operatic baritone and has performed alongside top names such as Katherine Jenkins and G4.

Singer Jimmy Burton is also part of the line-up. Jimmy, who began his career as a Butlins red coat, has been in the entertainment business for 23 years. He has performed in countless galas shows, musicals and pantomimes.

Other local stars set to perform in May are the lead singer for the Soul Traders Carl Majety, jazz and swing performer Shane Hampsheir, former Star for Medway winner Alana Hook, singer Anne Collis, and the Worship Team from Kings Church, Chatham.

Cllr Goulden said: “This will be the last fund-raiser of my mayoral year and we want to go out with a bang.

"It will be a really special night. We have got lots of talented artists who are giving up their time for free.

"Most of the performers are from Medway and my chosen charities are all based in the Medway Towns.

“Tickets prices are fantastic for such a great night of entertainment.”
