Two charities providing much-needed support for people affected by multiple sclerosis are appealing for plucky volunteers to take on the KM Assault Course on their behalf.
The Kent MS Therapy Centre based in Canterbury and MS Swale in Sittingbourne are both keen to recruit six-person teams for the fundraising event.
The challenge takes place at Betteshanger Park on May 5.
Moira Mitchell of the Kent MS Therapy Centre said: “We would love for you to put together a team for us, and tackle the KM Assault Course at Betteshanger Park on May 5.
“We’re an independent, local charity based in Canterbury, and we provide services for people with multiple sclerosis and other life-long health conditions.”
And, explaining the importance of his charity’s work, Peter Fathers of MS Swale said: “We give grants for respite for the people who have MS but also for their carers because it is the carers often who need respite.
“We also give emergency grants when something breaks down.”
Bookings for the challenge can be made at kmcharityteam.co.uk. Registration costs £85 per team, but a £10 discount is available when using the booking code KMNews19.
Event coordinator Dominic Comins said: “Both these charities provide essential services for people affected by a devastating disease, and their beneficiaries would struggle to get by without their support.
“So it would be fantastic to see people agree to do the assault course on their behalf. By doing so, not only will they have a great day out at beautiful Betteshanger Park; they will also be making a real difference to people’s lives.”
The course comprises 19 obstacles, including tunnels, balance beams, the rope walk, water jumps and the tyre wall. The minimum age for taking part is 14.
Teams can do the challenge for any charity they choose, and the money they raise will be split 70/30 between their good causes and the KM Charity Team’s literacy and road safety services for children.
The event is supported by Betteshanger Park, Specsavers, personal fitness specialists MY/PT and Eurostar.
