It’s not just the highest scoring team who go home with prizes at the KM Big Quiz.
Come up with a memorable question for the competition’s Readers’ Round, and you might win a mystery reward such as a bottle of Champagne.
So if you have a question that you think is worth toasting with a bit of bubbly – or if you want to enter a team for the contest – there still’s time to go through the submission and registration processes: the Maidstone Big Quiz takes place on Friday November 9.
Simon Dolby, chief executive of quiz organiser the KM Charity Team, said the best Readers’ Round questions weren’t fiendishly difficult, but ones whose answers lurked on the edges of contestants’ recall.
Mr Dolby said: “We want questions that tease the teams and generate friendly and animated debate. But they also need to be unambiguous, with clear and uncontested answers.
“Come up with a really, really good one and you could win a nice bottle of champagne. You will also be helping to raise much-needed cash for good causes – including the Heart of Kent Hospice.”
There’s no limit on the number of Readers’ Round questions any individual can submit, and you can do so here.
Be sure to include a source to verify the answer along with your question. And bear in mind that if your question is chosen, it could be used at any of the KM's four Big Quizzes - and not necessarily the Maidstone one.
The venue for the Maidstone Big Quiz is Maidstone Leisure Centre in Mote Park. The event will raise money for services supporting child literacy and road safety and one charity chosen via a prize draw as well as the Heart of Kent Hospice.
The quiz is organised by the KM Charity Team and supported by Maidstone accountancy practice Wilkins Kennedy, Barclays, Shepherd Neame, Hornby, DFDS Seaways and Office Angels.
It is for teams of up to eight people, with doors opening at 6.20pm for a 7pm start.
The entry price is £65 per team, but there is a £10 discount when you book using the discount code KMNEWS18. You can register a team and table by clicking here.
