A DISTRICT nurse from Kent plans to join a group of 20 adventurers to trek along the Great Wall of China for charity next year.
Jacqui Buxton, of Plover Road, Hawkinge, near Folkestone, will head off on the nine-day 100km expedition, on May 11 to raise money for Breakthrough Breast Cancer.
The 37-year-old, a mother of two, will start her experience in Jinshanlang and plans to walk 12km each day along the wall, enjoying the breathtaking mountain scenery and collecting more than £2,500 for the charity.
She said: “It’s my way of celebrating and honouring my mother and all of the people I have met as patients who have endured cancer.”
She has organised a special charity auction at the Mayfly pub in Spitfire Way on Thursday, December 7, from 8pm.
Lots include tickets to see the filming of Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? plus drinks with Chris Tarrant, sporting and entertainment memorabilia. Everyone is welcome.
