A charity cycle ride organised by a nurse attracted more than 100 riders to Ashford on Sunday.
It was the second such ride organised by nurse Heather Wynter, who fought her way through bowel cancer, while her father, Jim Poynton, endured two bouts of the disease. She took that as inspiration, and raised more than £7,000 for bowel cancer research last year.
This year’s ride took the riders from South Ashford out through Shadoxhurst, Woodchurch and Hamstreet, on a route of 18 miles.
Much of the sponsorship money remains to be collected but it is thought more than £5,000 was raised.
