Shoppers in Maidstone were treated to a slice of Pancake Day fun on Tuesday.
The third annual Heart of Kent Hospice race, held in Fremlin Walk, featured eight teams battling it out for glory and raising funds for the charity at the same time.
LA Fitness, Curves gym, Build a Bear Workshop – complete with one team member in a full bear costume – the Kent Messenger, Toni and Guy, Boots, Blue Arrow and Doves funeral directors all took part in the relay-style event, watched by dozens of lunchtime shoppers and TV cameras.
The winning team, LA Fitness, received an engraved frying pan, while the runners-up, the Kent Messenger, and the other teams, received a packet of pancakes.
Stephen Fuller, community fund-raiser at the Aylesford-based hospice, said: “It’s a fun event – just a bit of silliness – and we also hope to raise around £1,000 for the hospice.”
