An island biker has cycled 105 miles to raise money for the Joshua Goodwin Asthma Foundation.

Paul Skinner, of Sunnyside Avenue, Minster, rode from his home to Brighton on Sunday, to coincide with the London to Brighton bike ride.

The ride took Mr Skinner seven hours, with just one half-hour stop and he managed to raise more than £200.

Mr Skinner usually cycles the London to Brighton but decided to do something different this year, and wanted to raise money for the Foundation because his daughter and grandson both suffer from asthma.

The 54-year-old said: “I cycled on my own but I really enjoyed it and when I got to Brighton the atmosphere was great – I didn’t have to cycle back though, my wife picked me up.”

Joshua's family set up the Foundation and have organised various fund-raising activities since the eight-year-old's tragic death following an asthma attack in August last year.
