PAINTINGS by Hammer horror film star Peter Cushing, who died in 1994, have been reproduced for a calendar.

Away from the big screen, Mr Cushing relaxed by painting, producing many watercolours, often of scenes local to his seaside home in Whitstable.

Now 12 of his paintings have been reproduced and feature on the 2008 calendar sold in aid of east Kent’s three Pilgrims Hospices. They were chosen from those left by Mr Cushing to his close friend and executor Bernard Broughton.

The calendar costs £3.75 and is available at the three hospices in Canterbury, Margate and Ashford, from the hospice charity shops and by mail order on 01233 504102.

Mr Cushing died in the Canterbury Pilgrims Hospice.
