There are some fantastic prizes up for grabs at this year’s Canterbury heat of the KM Big Charity Quiz, and you don’t have to be Mastermind to win them.
One participant chosen by lottery could be heading to Paris with their plus-one if they strike it lucky in the ‘Win in 10’ game.
The names of everyone taking part in the quiz will be put into a box, and one individual will be invited to the stage, where they will have 10 seconds to answer a question correctly. If they do succeed, they will win a pair of free Eurostar tickets.
In addition, the prizes for the charity raffle include a £150 Eurotunnel voucher enabling up to eight people to travel to France, Hornby collectables, and tickets to see Kent Cricket Club play at their Spitfire Ground.
Any organisation entering a minimum of three teams will be presented with a prize for their best-performing group.
There will be separate prizes for the top teams from the NHS and care sector and from local government and schools.
And there will be a special prize for the winning team, who will also qualify for the Big Quiz county final in January, along with the three runner-up teams.
This year’s quiz takes place at the University of Kent’s Canterbury campus on Friday April 26, with Kentish Gazette charity of the Year Eva’s Angels and the Kent and Canterbury Hospital’s League of Friends being among the good causes set to benefit.
Event coordinator Dominic Comins said: “Thanks to the generosity of our wonderful supporters, there are so many great prizes on offer at the Canterbury Quiz, giving people even more reason to come along to what is always a great night.
“Don’t be put off by thinking that the evening is only for hard-core quiz enthusiasts. Anybody in the hall could win some of these prizes.
“Plus, you will be helping to raise funds some really worthy good causes.
“You will also be able to enjoy a drink at the charity Spitfire Bar kindly donated by Shepherd Neame and a ploughman’s dinner courtesy of the League of Friends.
“And Barclays Bank will match-fund all bar sales, meaning even more money goes to the charity beneficiaries.”
The quiz is open to teams of up to eight people, with doors opening at 6.20pm for a 7pm start. The fun is estimated to finish at 10.30pm.
Also taking a share of the charity pot will be KM Charity Team services supporting child literacy and road safety, plus one charity chosen via prize draw.
The entry price is £65 per eight-person team, but there is a £10 discount when you book using the discount code KMNEWS19.
