This year’s walk to school song contest has extra fizz as celebrity singer Cheryl Baker is backing the project.
The deadline for school choirs to enter and earn their place in the recording studio has been extended until noon on June 15.
The annual singing contest pits schools against each other as they sing a set song. The 2015 song is Walking on Sunshine by Katrina and the Waves.
Cheryl Baker said: "Singing is an excellent way to lighten the heart and bring joy to others, so I would really encourage schools to enter the walk to school song contest. Of course we are looking for entries with extra fizz this year!"
Up to five school choirs will be invited into the recording studio of Independent Music Productions to professionally record their version of the song with the winning school earning a framed gold disc to display and the right to perform at two major events staged by the KM Charity Team. Schools can either sing the original lyrics or adapt them to stress the walk to school message.
To enter school choirs simply have to send in a CD or other format of your group of children singing the song. Send to: KM Charity Team, Gazette House, 5-8 Estuary View Business Park, Boorman Way, Whitstable, Kent, CT5 3SE. or email sdolby@thekmgroup.co.uk
