A DAY of reconciliation culminating with a concert is to be held in Canterbury Cathedral and its precincts in September.
The St John Day of Reconciliation and special concert by the contemporary music group Sounds New takes place on Wednesday, September 24. Money raised from the event will go to support the worldwide work of St John Ambulance.
The day will consist of a number of workshops and talks and there will also be a film about St John's work.
The Sounds New Concert of Reconciliation will include the world premiere of Supernatural Songs by Sir John Tavener, who will be present for the occasion.
In addition, there will be music by Samuel Barber, Elgar, Mozart and Tippett played by the Britten Sinfonia, conducted by Nicholas Cleobury.
The concert will be introduced by former MP and ex-BBC war correspondent Martin Bell and be narrated by actor Sam West.
Kent Messenger Group chairman Edwin Boorman is organising the event which is being sponsored by Canterbury Cathedral and the Kent Messenger Group.
