A strawberry and cream tea afternoon raised £701 to help the St Sexburgha Stitchers in their mammoth task to refit Minster Abbey.
It is 15 years since the dedicated band formed with the goal of creating kneelers, pew cushions and runners for the abbey.
Millions of stitches, miles of thread and countless hours of devoted work have been put into the labour of love.
Founder member Wendy Montgomery said: “The afternoon was very successful and we are now working on the altar frontal and more pew cushions.
“We are now well over half through refitting the abbey but it is a massive job.”
