A sponsored swim at Sheerness pool raised £3,000 to help build a specialist cancer treatment centre for teenagers and young adults.
Members of the Beachfield Swimming Squad took part in the event in September and the money will go to the Teenage Cancer Care Trust who are planning to build the centre at The Royal Marsden Hospital in Surrey.
It will be the first centre of its kind in the South East.
Squad spokesman Sarah Newton said: “All members swam their hearts out to raise as much money as possible. Children as young as seven swam distances of one mile and others up to three miles. Donations from local businesses helped boost the total.”
Last Saturday the club’s annual championships were held. Medals and trophies will be awarded at the presentation evening and Christmas disco on December 5.
