Are you brave enough to step off the top of a nine-storey building to help a cause close to your heart?

Daredevils from across Kent are invited to take part in the KM Charity Team abseil down one of Maidstone’s tallest buildings – and anyone raising more than £200 could win two Eurostar tickets.

This year’s abseil will take place off Thomas Place, a 100-foot-high sheltered housing block in James Whatman Way, on Sunday, April 8.

Participants can raise money for any charity of their choice but are asked to aim to raise at least £75 in sponsorship. To add a little encouragement, any individual fundraiser who generates more than £200 will go into a draw to win two Eurostar tickets to Paris, Brussels or Lille.

Last year 90 brave souls took part, beating the drop and raising £9,000 for 22 good causes.

KM Charity Team chief executive Simon Dolby said: “Adrenalin junkies will obviously love our abseil, but it isn’t just for people who love physical adventures – quite the reverse.

“A lot of people are afraid of heights so it is a very brave and yet completely safe way to overcome your fear.

“The feeling you get when you get to the bottom and know how courageous you’ve been, tackling the challenge head-on and beating it, all because you wanted to help a good cause, is amazing.”
