Are you brave enough to walk down the side of one of Maidstone tallest buildings?
Three local businesses are hoping to encourage people to do just that by sponsoring the Kent Messenger charity abseil - a 100ft descent from the roof of Fremlin Walk, Maidstone, to Earl Street below.
Fremlin Walk marketing manager Jaine Rees said: “We are happy to be once again supporting the KM’s 2009 charity abseil. It’s a daring challenge that raises a lot of money for local causes and we are delighted to be playing a part in this fantastic event.”
Joining Fremlin Walk as sponsors are Day Smith Hunter Chartered Accounts and Business Advisors.
Partner Mike Startup said they also hoped to get an additional rope going down the building to raise money for the Heart of Kent Hospice.
He said: “This is just one of the many things we are doing to help in the local community.
“Some of our younger, more agile members of staff will be taking part.”
Wilmoths Citroen in Sutton Road, Maidstone have also come on board to help raise cash.
General sales manager Kelvin Clayton said Wilmoths had become involved because they were a new business in the town.
He said: “This is a for a great cause and so we wanted to give our support.”
Mr Clayton said his colleague Gary Bartlett was looking forward to making the leap.
Participants must raise at least £75, of which 70 per cent will go to Guide Dogs for the Blind and 30 per cent to the Kent Walking Bus Project. If you want to have a go, simply download the form here.
Additional sponsors are needed to donate £650 to cover the cost of equipment. Call Simon Dolby, KMG community and charity projects manager, on 07989 164752.
