The organisers of the Green School Awards 2018 have announced a best practice brochure – outlining the winning projects from this year’s awards - is now available for schools to download for free.
The aim is to inspire other schools to try out the ideas for themselves, adapt the schemes to suit their circumstances, or even spark brand new ideas. To view or save the event programme, which lists the winners and their methods of best practice, visit www.greenschoolawards.co.uk.
Simon Dolby, chief executive of the KM Charity Team, which runs the awards, said: “Our winners are helping pupils to gain a better understanding of their impact on the environment – and empowering them to do something about it. We are delighted to share their success as an example for others to follow.”
He added: “Many initiatives go beyond the classroom, or the school gate, to involve pupils and their families at home – or people in the wider community. This is a fantastic message that should be shared as widely as possible, and that’s what we aim to do.”
The Green School Awards event was staged at Kent Cricket Club in Canterbury on Thursday, February 8. Twenty-three schools from across the county were crowned district winners and of these just five were named overall champions:
The Green School Awards give eco-friendly primary and secondary schools the chance to shine for their efforts in energy conservation, green travel, recycling and sustainability, and nature conservation.
The annual event was run in partnership with Golding Homes and supported by LoopCR and Ashford International Hotel.
