Time is running out for parents, pupils and schools to nominate inspirational individuals with top teaching in their DNA.
The cut-off date to nominate teachers or other school staff for the Kent Teacher of the Year Awards is noon on Tuesday, March 8.
One ambassador of the annual event has made a final call for members of the public to vote in the biology category.
Prof Martin Warren of the University of Kent’s School of Biosciences said: “We’re supporting the Biology Teacher of the Year Award and we’re really excited because there’s never been a better time to be doing biology.”
He added: “We really want to give an award to outstanding teachers that are out there teaching biology and enthusing children who will be coming on to university.”
Other ambassadors for the awards include representatives from CXK, Kreston Reeves, Loop CR Ltd, Kent Sport and Physical Activity Service, SELT, Project Salus, Medway Council, Kent County Council, Three R’s Teacher Recruitment, Social Enterprise Kent, Canterbury Christ Church University, Leeds Castle, Marlowe Theatre and the following departments at the University of Kent: Politics and International Relations; Physical Sciences; Mathematics, Statistics and Actuarial Science; European Culture and Languages; and History.
Around 50 winning individuals and schools will be honoured at a celebratory awards dinner staged at Leeds Castle in May.
Simon Dolby from the KM Charity Team, organising the awards, said: “If you’re finding it difficult to decide who is most deserving of an award, don’t forget you can submit as many nominations as you wish.”
He added: “Nominations can be made by pupils and parents and anyone associated with a school. Teachers, support staff, volunteers, management and governors are all eligible to nominate their colleagues for well deserved recognition.”
Submit one nomination or more at www.kentteacheroftheyear.co.uk before March 8.
