A leading art gallery in the county will be setting the stage for a creative design and writing competition.
The Perfect Packed Lunch Awards asks primary school children to design a genuine or fantasy packed lunch by incorporating their art and literacy skills.
Margate's Turner Contemporary which houses pieces from world-renowned artists and has just celebrated its fifth birthday, will be hosting the annual awards ceremony and is keen to see many young people take part.
Molly Molloy of Turner Contemporary, said: "We are delighted to be involved with the awards for a second year. It's a tremendous initiative which encourages children to be imaginative and showcase their artistic flair as well as their written abilities. The Perfect Packed Lunch Awards makes for a great combination of healthy eating, wellbeing and creativity."
Children are required to produce a drawing or painting of their lunchbox supplied with a written piece explaining the ingredients and what makes it so special.
All winning entries will be displayed at the gallery at a celebratory event on Friday, June 10.
Every entry submitted to the Perfect Packed Lunch Awards will be converted into an online recipe card visible by all.
Children can submit their entries in a variety of categories including: Famous Artist, Book Character, Knight, Superhero, Celebrity, Fairytale, Pirate Captain, Historic, Princess, Healthy, and Cheesy.
All drawings and paintings must be presented as landscape. The supporting written piece should really ‘sell’ the packed lunch, pointing out what makes their creation exciting and unique.
All submissions need to be submitted to www.perfectpackedlunch.org.uk by the noon, Friday, May 13 deadline.
Lisa Craig, events manager at the KM Charity Team which organises the awards, said: “There isn't long left for children to submit their entries to the awards which could see their work displayed at the world-famous Turner Contemporary. Why not give them a hand with their lunchbox this weekend and who knows; your son or daughter could be the next big thing in the art world!"
The awards are supported by key partners Mini Babybel, Golding Vision (Part of Golding Homes), Three R’s Teacher Recruitment and Turner Contemporary Gallery.
