RADIO and TV presenter Sue Cook is heading this year’s Christmas appeal for a national Chatham-based charity that provides specially adapted radio equipment on free, permanent loan for blind and partially-sighted people in need.
Former Crimewatch presenter Sue is a patron of the British Wireless for the Blind Fund (BWBF), which develops and distributes radios and CD radio cassette recorders adapted for people with a visual impairment.
“The BWBF brings all year round comfort and joy to the lives of people who are blind or partially sighted,” said Sue.
“When the BWBF says a radio from the fund is a radio for life, that’s exactly what it means. Audio equipment is supplied, maintained, repaired and replaced for as long as the listener requires a set.
“The BWBF spends around £350,000 a year on providing audio equipment. As an independent charity the BWBF receives no government funding or Lottery money, and exists entirely on the kindness and generosity of its supporters.”
