Manicured lawns and hidden hideaways – gardens in Doddington gave up their secrets at an open day.
Ten plots, most of them not normally open to the public, were on show. The village’s award winning millennium allotments were also included in the tour.
One of the most outstanding venues was Southview, The Street, home of John Penry, where garden lovers marvelled at the neat rectangles of box hedge which contained roses.
Others open included Doddington Place, The Paddock, Valley View, Sunnyside and Frith’s Old Farmhouse.
More than 160 people bought tickets and £1,000 was raised which will go towards refurbishing the 13th century Doddington church.
More gardens will be open on July 6. For details phone 01795 886332.
