Walk to School sponsor Mini Babybel has stepped up its support for the award-winning initiative by presenting a new award to the region’s top walking buses.
Children at Blean School, Canterbury, were celebrating this week after being named Mini Babybel Best Walking Bus for the Canterbury district.
The school operates four walking buses serving more than 100 children, but includes the entire school in green travel through its Walk on Wednesday scheme.
Blean Walking Buses were selected by Simon Dolby, KM Charity Team Chief Executive, to receive the special award because of the work leading parents on the scheme have done to make the buses a success.
Mr Dolby said: “All the walking buses in the district are providing a safe, effective and welcoming service for the children involved with the walk to school, but Blean stands out as one of the best. I am so pleased Mini Babybel have enabled us to trumpet the Blean scheme.”
The KM Walking Bus is a collaborative scheme designed to help parents share the task of taking children to school. Parents wanting to join Blean Walking Bus should contact Carol Gretton at the school office.
As well as Mini Babybel the KM Walking Bus, which is a KCC-led initiative, is supported by Ashford Council, Countrystyle Recycling, Specsavers, 3Rs teacher recruitment agency, Eurostar, Canterbury City Council, Whitefriars shopping area and the Chaucer Foundation.
