Hundreds of youngsters celebrated coming top of the class for reading and green travel after competing in a special challenge day.
Children across the county walked, cycled, scooted or parked and strode to school in a bid to win big at the KM Challenge Day. Others were there to champion the joys of reading as members of Buster's Book Club. The day of competitive fun was organised by the KM Group’s charity department for all schools taking part in the KM Super WoW!, green footsteps or literacy scheme.
Classes that were top or most improved for reading or green travel to school attended an awards celebration at Silver Blades ice rink this week.
The winning classes were presented with free entry tickets to Silver Blades, which class representatives received at the awards event.
Simon Dolby from the KM Charity Team said: “It is always inspiring to meet the children making such a success of our walk to school, road safety and literacy schemes.”
The initiatives are supported by Silver Blades, Leeds Castle, Kent Reliance, Eurostar, Orbit, 3Rs teacher recruitment, Kent County Council, Medway Council, Bel UK, Volker Highways, Countrystyle Recycling, and Golding Homes.
