The maker of Thomas the Tank Engine sets, Scalextric and model trains and planes has donated a cargo of goodies for a charity raffle at the event.

The quiz takes place at the Ashford International Hotel on Friday June 21, and will raise money for the Kentish Express’s charity of the year – the Stroke Association – as well as literacy and road safety projects in schools.

A prize draw will also see a charity entering at least one quiz team taking a share of the proceeds, which could be up to £1,000.

Quiz coordinator Dominic Comins expressed gratitude to Hornby for its continued support for the event.

He said: “Once again, Hornby has donated some wonderful prizes for the Big Quiz charity raffle.

“Hornby’s sets have delighted generations of children – myself and my son included – and anyone who signs up for the quiz stands a chance of taking some of them home with them.

“They will also know that they have helped raise much-needed funds for some really important good causes.”

In addition to the raffle, there will be prizes on offer for the top team taking part from the NHS and caring organisations, the top local government or schools team, and the top team from any organisation that enters three teams or more.

And contestants will be able to obtain refreshments from a charity bar supplied by brewer Shepherd Neame. The bar will be run by staff from Barclays bank, which will match-fund the money spent on drinks.

In addition to Hornby, Barclays and Shepherd Neame, the quiz is supported by Office Angels, Ashford-based law firm Hallett & Co, Specsavers and IMP Studio & Live.

The entry price for an eight-person team is £65 per team, but there is a £10 discount when you book online using the discount code KMNEWS19.
