Brave leap for children's charity

JUMPING out of a plane from 12,000 feet may seem like a drastic way to admire the views, but that's just what Tina Thatcher of RPC Land and New Homes did. Tina, along with two other members of the RPC team, Dawn Taylor and Sarah Lowe, was sponsored to do a parachute jump for Demelza House children's hospice, which provides respite care for terminally ill children throughout the South East.

Crest Nicholson pledged £500 in sponsorship for Tina £500 to make the jump. Peter Bowden, managing director of Crest Nicholson, said: "It is very admirable to have the courage to do a parachute jump for such a worthwhile cause. We were only too pleased to lend our support and sponsor Tina and contribute to their fund raising efforts."

Tina said: "It was an amazing experience. Not only have I fulfiled a lifelong ambition and got a birdeye's view of Kent, but it was for a very good cause. The jump would have been in vain, had companies such as Crest Nicholson not sponsored us, and we are very grateful for their support."

Together with the sponsorship from the parachute jump, donations and team fundraising events, RPC, with a little help from Crest, has raised £5,000 for Demelza House.
