Archaeologists working on the site of Ward Homes’ new development at Meadowcroft, in Iwade, near Sittingbourne, have unearthed ancient treasure thousands of years old.
The archaeologists discovered a 6,000 year old bronze age axe along with round houses typical of that era, pottery from both the stone age and Roman times and silver buttons from the Stuart period.
Sales and marketing director, Janet Burnall, said: “Ward Homes always carries out routine investigations at a site before we begin building and we are pleased that the discovery of these artefacts helps piece together the jigsaw puzzle of local history.”
Meadowcroft has a range of properties from two to five bedrooms.
