WHEN it comes to finding a new home, some people already know exactly what they're looking for.
Others take their time to consider the options and hunt around until they find the home that appeals to them.
Then again, some really do take the novel approach - by seeing the home they are eventually going to buy in their dreams.
This is exactly what happened to Patricia Metcalf and her husband David, who have gone onto buy a new property at Home Farm, a development of just nine luxury homes within a traditional farmstead setting in the heart of Chelsfield Village.
Just weeks before the Metcalfs discovered the new scheme - by Asprey Homes - Patricia had a vivid dream.
She said: "We were in Spain staying at our holiday home at the time. When one day, I awoke from dreaming that David and I were going to move to a house with characteristic small windows and older style, yet of new construction and in the country, but not too isolated. When we returned to the UK and saw Home Farm for the first time, we realised straight away that these were, literally, the homes of my dreams. It was clearly meant to be."
This was not the only surprising aspect of the Metcalf's purchase. On deciding that they wanted to move, David and Patricia had only begun a tentative look into the housing market and had yet to put their own property up for sale. However, after a game of golf at Chelsfield Lakes Golf Club on the August bank holiday, the couple decided to visit Home Farm - and within just eight days, contracts had been exchanged.
"So many aspects of Home Farm appealed to us, including the quality of design, the extra thought that has gone into the finishing touches and the spacious layout of the development" said David, the managing partner for one of the UK's leading architectural and surveying practises, Calford Seaden.
"Historically, we have always lived in older properties because we felt that they had more character. However, Home Farm really does have the timeless appeal of traditional country homes and the theme has been thoughtfully carried right through to features in the kitchens and bathrooms."
Prices for the remaining properties at Home Farm start at just under £900,000.
