Don't forget that spring means slugs

AS THE weather becomes milder so slugs become more active, searching out seedlings and new shoots to provide much needed spring sustenance.

Delphiniums and hostas are prime targets, although there are few seedlings they will totally ignore. With a good memory for where to find a tasty meal, slugs and snails will return to the same plant night after night until the plant is totally disfigured or destroyed.

Slugs are probably Britain’s most hated pest. They look horrible, feel slimey and eat half their weight of garden plants every day.

You can protect your non-edible plants easily with a slug killer that wets the plants and soaks the soil.

SlugClear is a concentrated liquid slug killer that after dilution is watered over and around threatened non-edible plants. It gets to the ones on top and the ones hiding underground. Its unique application method gives deep down control and means there is no residue visible to pets.

If you prefer the power of pellets then choose Mini pellets such as SlugClear Advanced Pellets that provide plenty of baiting points per pot. Never pile pellets into a heap - they must be used according to the instructions on the label and sprinkled lightly around all your garden plants.

They will attract slugs and snails to eat the bait and once they have fed, the nasty pests will not eat your precious flowers, fruit or vegetables. For best control apply in the evening when the soil is moist but rain is not expected.

SlugClear Advanced Pellets are the most cost efficient slug pellet on the market. The pieces of chemical that kill the slugs are broken down into smaller particles that are distributed more efficiently throughout each pellet.

This means that only half the amount of chemical is required compared with traditional pellets and the application rate is half that of ordinary pellets.
