Families have say in all areas
Recreation officer for Swale Borough Council, Graeme Tuffe, recently visited Orchard Edge, the new village created by developer Hillreed Homes, at Iwade.
The open day was planned to enable residents to foster the community spirit and to have a say in the future of the area where their children are concerned.
Mr Tuffe visited Orchard Edge and left a catalogue of exciting schemes and play group ideas that have been instigated at other public owned spaces. Now it was time for the residents of Iwade to have some input in their future.
Residents invited the children - an important group in the decision making - to help them choose from the wide choice of swings, slides and climbing equipment.
SALES and marketing co-ordinator Jo Richards said: “I have had a great deal of input with Orchard Edge since its conception several years ago. We firmly believe that houses should be homes and the environment in which they are built is paramount to the success of the location in the years to come. With this in mind the directors firmly believe in fostering a good community spirit and my job has been to co-ordinate this programme through a series of initiatives from organising Cub meetings to decorating the square at Christmas.
“The link with the council throughout has been excellent and the success of the open day was just part of this on going successful working relationship”.
The locally equipped area of play (LEAP) is anticipated to be completed late spring or early summer.
