THE Kent branches of the Southern Private Landlords Association are promoting a new initiative to help landlords avoid the pitfalls of investing in residential property.
As part of its drive to raise standards, the SPLA is making its landlords' handbook, which retails at £16, available free to new members with rental properties in the Kent area.
It is designed as a reference book which addresses topics as diverse as safety regulations, property fitness standards and setting up a tenancy. Complex issues, such as evicting a troublesome tenant, are covered.
The SPLA chairman, Mike Stimpson, said: "As an association we are there to provide support and up to date information. With ever changing regulations our service to landlords has never been more valuable".
