A Kent couple have achieved the dream of many a frustrated householder – knocking down their whole house and building a new one.

Lawrence and Deborah Richards had bought a no-frills detached house in Sevenoaks and loved the location – but dreamed of an indoor pool, spa and sauna, not to mention a wine cellar and home cinema room.

Self-build was too daunting a prospect for the couple, so, staying in rented accommodation, they enlisted the help of Tonbridge-based Millwood Designer Homes, who knocked down the property and started again.

Now, just months later, the couple have moved into their new home, which has all the mod cons they had asked for.

Deborah said: “We looked into renovating the house but the projected costs and the amount of restructuring involved began to rocket and we knew that working with the existing building would mean there would be compromises.”

The couple decided it would be better to knock down the existing house and build a new home, using Millwood Designer Homes design and build package.

Deborah added: “With both of us having busy lives, the self-build route wasn’t an option.

“We didn’t have the time or want the hassle of project managing and finding reputable contractors.

“I adore our new home.

“It has under-floor heating throughout, top-of-the-range security system and wood floors.

“The children love the indoor pool, spa and sauna and Lawrence loves his new wine cellar and home cinema room.

“This is our dream home.”
