Just the tonic for former hospital site

Award-winning housing developer Higgins Homes has been granted planning permission for one of the company’s most exciting renovation projects to date.

The Old Hospital, a former Grade II-listed hospital site, is the developer’s first foray into the Garden of England.

Set off Church Street in Maidstone, The Old Hospital is full of original Georgian features and will comprise a combination of 17 converted one- and two-bedroom apartments and 57 new apartments, all set around a landscaped courtyard.

Jeremy Marcus, sales and marketing director at Higgins Homes, said: "This is an exciting new venture for Higgins Homes, as it is the company’s first project in Kent and it is also a very challenging and beautiful property. We will be restoring this stunning building to its former glory, while sensitively bringing it into the 21st Century with fantastic, high-specification modern interiors."

Construction on this historic development has already begun and off-plan sales are anticipated to start this winter, with first completions in spring 2009.
