LAING Homes has launched a new building site safety pack for school children.
Two children died and 91 youngsters were injured in accidents last year while playing on residential building sites in the UK.
The booklet has been produced in conjunction with the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA), which aims to teach children about building site safety through national curriculum subjects.
The pack, called SPLAAT: Safe Play At All Times, is targeted at key stage one children of five to seven years old.
It will support infant teachers in communicating safety messages about building sites through other subjects such as literacy, numeracy, science, geography and music.
Juliet Brown, of RoSPA, said: “If we want to do something about the terrible incidents of injuries to children on building sites in the UK, then school is the best place to target them.
The booklet is a real step forward in getting the safety message across to our children, which Laing Homes has done well to introduce. I hope teachers take on board all it has to offer."
