The historic pub, which impressed Secret Drinker during a visit last year, was named the top boozer in the county at an awards ceremony last night.

Both the pub and the property, which is on the market for £1.15 million, are located in the small village just outside of Maidstone.

It’s just a short drive to Maidstone and Headcorn train stations, which both have transport links to London.

The historic house has been an imposing building in the village for many years, with the original house being divided into separate properties after the Second World War.

The billiard room was then converted into a cottage in the 1970s, but the largest part of the original property, which boasts medieval features and Georgian additions, remains and is currently up for sale.

Some of the building’s traditional features include timber-framed construction, elaborate carvings including a George and the Dragon motif, original fireplaces and beams.

The house has six bedrooms, including a principal suite with oak-framed windows, an en-suite bathroom, a walk-in dressing room and views of the garden.

There’s also a spacious kitchen and breakfast room with a La Canche range, three bathrooms, a split-level reception hall with a striking staircase, a dining room with an inglenook fireplace and a drawing room with a bay window.

The large gardens are a stand-out feature of the property, with lawns and terraces split into multiple areas.

There is a vegetable garden with fruit trees, a higher and lower terrace, a well-maintained lawn, a pond with a jetty and decking, a summer house, an ornamental pond and a woodland area.

For those who are green-fingered, the garden also has a number of stunning plants, trees and shrubs that will need tending to, including a towering beech tree and a mature gingko tree.

There are also great views of the village from the garden, which are particularly enjoyable during the summer months.
